"Oh my God I'm breaking out". Kelly screamed as she stared at herself in front of the vanity". She had just woken up. "I really need to book an appointment with a dermatologist before this thing becomes worse".

Kelly Idiagbon stood at the front of the door adjusting her white shirt and smoothing her palms against the red check skirt she wore, she slipped a mirror out of her old makeup purse and pressed her lip together making sure the maroon lipstick she wore blended properly, whilst raising up her arms to smell her armpits, kelly took a little perfume out of her hand bag and wore it on every part of her body including her face and inside her ears. Wearing a satisfied look on her face she folded her right palm and knocked on the door.

"Come in". The calm and soulful voice of Sam Roberts called. Kelly quickly opened the door and took a seat before being asked to.

"Oh lord doctor! I am breaking out, see my skin, see my face". Kelly cried out in a dramatic tone.

"Calm down Madam, that's not how things are done here, I didn't even get your name".

"Alright, I'm Kelly, kelly Ejiro Idiagbon. I'm from Delta state but my mother is from Congo....".

"It's Alright Madam, I'm Sam Roberts".

"Doctor Sammy... I'm really breaking out". "It's Sam, do you apply body cream or lotion ? If yes how long have you been using them?".

"I apply body lotion and I don dey use am since four years ago, I never change am". "Alright madam, did you change your soap or body wash?".

"No o! Na the same four years wey I don dey use the soap too"..

"I will help you......"

So many people have incured a lot of skin issues as a result of Ignorance. It could be eczema, discoloration etc.

And most of the time, they apportion all the blame to the products, the same products they've been using for years.

I would tell you a little secret on how to avoid incurring skin issues.

It stems from purchasing the product. I would be using body lotion as an example. Peradventure your body lotion has been exhausted and definitely you need to purchase another do not just dispose of the previous one even if it is the same thing you are purchasing. Keep it and take it along with you when purchasing the next one.

Why?

Having a sample would enable you buy exactly what you are holding and what you have been using. It is safer to do it this way.

I would give you an example using two illustrations; I walk into a shop to purchase a body lotion and I use silverberry body lotion, I request for it or I pick it from the shelf, pay for it and leave. I don't check to see if it's the original (you can know this by familiarizing with various signs or information present on the body of the product), I don't open it up to smell( fake products can come in the body of the original but have a whole different content). But because I see Silverberry written on the product, I take it. And when I get home and notice the smell is different I assume the company has added a new ingredient (without recieving any notification from the company). I begin to use it and two weeks later I begin to notice weird changes in my skin and I begin to raise alarm like "Kelly Idiagbon".

"I walk into a shop to purchase a body lotion with the previous one tucked into my bag. I walk to the stand or I request for it. I bring out the previous one and the soon to be purchased cream and begin to compare, I make sure that all the signs are present, I open it up to smell and when I'm satisfied that everything is in place I pay for it and I leave. If I'm not satisfied, I proceed to check others. After checking I purchase and leave, I go home and begin to use it and nothing happens to my skin.

Which do you prefer?

We can have trusted supermarkets or stores we buy from but it's better to be on the safer side.
